The project asserts a significant presence, fronting Veterans’ Park and the St. Lawrence River beyond, and through its alignment with the religious and cultural institutions within the urban context. Identifiable public spaces are created, including the esplanade, the plaza, the sculpture garden, the agora, and the promenade, exploiting the intrinsic qualities of the city.
The foyer is a flexible space that can be arranged in multiple configurations. Its dramatic full-height glazed facade reveals the spectacle of pre-performance gatherings and affords a magnificent view of the river.
The performance hall and its foyer are integrated with the public space, while the service spaces such as the offices, conference rooms, and backstage areas continue the orientation of the adjoining Civic Centre.
