Elgar Community Center, 2002
Institutional
Addition to an existing community center
Verdun, Montreal
The Elgar Community Centre is an aquatic and community centre situated in the heart of Nuns’ Island near downtown Montreal. The building was completed in three stages: the first included the exterior pool and change rooms; the second included meeting rooms, multi-purpose spaces, a library and a small police station. The third phase, completed in April 2003, enlarged significantly the library and added multi-purpose spaces on a mezzanine level overlooking the library. The centre, located beside a wood, provides access to exterior tennis courts, grass sports fields and playgrounds for younger children.
